INITIAL CONSULTATION

The initial, mandatory 90 minute assessment, is a detailed evaluation of your current physical well-being.

The comprehensive consultation involves:

A brief interview discussing any current or previous pain, injuries, and training history:

We'll discuss your history and daily habits which will help to identify key factors contributing to your current state and/or those that may be hindering you from reaching your health & fitness goals. (See Medical Form)

In-depth analysis of your posture and gait cycle:

To best assess how you are currently adapting to your environment, we'll photograph your standing posture from each side and take a slow-motion video recording of your gait cycle. Together, we'll discuss these findings and show you how the Functional Patterns system works to address any inefficiencies, allowing you to optimise your health and/or overcome pain.

An introduction to myofascial release

Learn specific myofascial release (self-massage) techniques that may help you manage pain and tightness, and open the door to improving your posture and movement.

Specific postural corrective and dynamic exercises

Finally, as time allows, you will learn some of the foundational exercises that serve to improve your posture, build muscle, improve mobility, and enhance your movement all at the same time.

1-ON-1 TRAINING

Once the initial consultation has been completed you will be able to schedule in 1-on-1 sessions.

The 1-on-1, 60 minute sessions, continue to build on the corrective and exercise techniques that you were introduced to in the Initial Consultation. These will progress onto more dynamic exercises as your body develops and adapts, with the end goal to create a more sustainable body that has an improved capability of responding to stressors in your environment.

As you progress in your training, your gait cycle and movement results will be the key metrics used to objectively judge your progress. Therefore, additional photos and videos of your movements such as running/sprinting/throwing will be taken over time to assess this.

ONLINE 1-ON-1 TRAINING

1-on-1 sessions over Zoom are able to be offered to those who are not able to train face-to-face in Sydney, Australia.

You will need to have completed the Functional Patterns 10-Week Online Program as a minimum pre-requisite to ensure you have a basic understanding of the exercises, movements and terminology.

Equipment wise, you'll need a dumbbell or kettlebell between 5-10kg, an exercise band, and sufficient space to perform the movements. If you have access to a cable machine and other equipment this can help, but is not essential.

Stable Wifi, good quality video camera and audio are also necessary.
